Quad-HD 1600p flat panel has oodles of inputs

By | October 4, 2007, 7:24pm PDT

Summary: Wow, that’s a lot of inputs! We’ve seen 30″ flat panel monitors before, but nothing quite like this. Thanks to its 1 trillion operations/sec Taranex video processing chip, the new “Quad HD” display from Gateway can swallow your “old fashioned” 1080p, 720p, or even (gasp!) 480i video and upconvert it to 1600p of ultra-high-resolution goodness. The HXD3000 can take up to six simultaneous inputs from HDMI, DVI, VGA, Component, S-Video, and composite without choking.

This monitor is a revolutionary of its time, this monitor is very neat. Wow 8 speakers, surround sound within the monitor or how does that work. Also built in lo-jack for the monitor as well what else will people think of these days. We will just have to wait and see if this idea takes off. Also if anyone is reading these blogs from the company please send me one, I will happy to beta test all of your gadgets as well.

Wish it had DisplayPort too.

This looks like a great display but was hoping DisplayPort was another input. It's not clear if HDMI or DisplayPort will be the next generation PC graphics output but bets are that the PC industry is moving to DisplayPort.

I would like to chain two of these displays eventually or chain one of these with my current 24" DVI driven Dell display. The current inputs just feel like a collection of many legacy inputs but other than HDMI, is not future proofed.
