Agora device will not be the second Google Android phone, delayed indefinitely

For the most part I enjoy using my T-Mobile G1, but am looking forward to future hardware. When I saw the Agora Pro, I went ahead and ordered one in December. Many people doubted it would ever come to be, but I held out hope and it was actually shown off a bit at CES last week. A reader just emailed me this news that confirms the Agora and Agora Pro are delayed indefinitely and in all likelihood will never see the light of day.

For the most part I enjoy using my T-Mobile G1, but am looking forward to future hardware. When I saw the Agora Pro, I went ahead and ordered one in December. Many people doubted it would ever come to be, but I held out hope because I like forward facing keyboards and thought the design looked good. A prototype was actually shown off a bit at CES last week so my hopes were getting even higher as the January shipping date approached. A reader (thanks Cya) just emailed me this news that confirms the Agora and Agora Pro are delayed indefinitely and in all likelihood will never see the light of day.

I was a bit uncomfortable when I was actually charged last month right after I ordered the phone because usually you are not billed until right before the device ships. Then again, I was hopeful it was closer to release than I imagined. I emailed the company about this charge and received confirmation that it was indeed not a scam and the device was going to be shipped in January. It looks like they did try hard to get a device out, but they weren't very experienced with the requirements and were designing a device that did not fit the minimum specs for an Android phone. My money has not yet been refunded, but I will stay on top of them until it is so I can spend it on an actual new phone. Maybe on something like the rumored G2.
