Android 2.2 Froyo update officially rolling out to Google Nexus One owners

By | June 29, 2010, 10:48am PDT

Summary: The official Android 2.2 Froyo update is now rolling out over-the-air to Google Nexus One owners so stay tuned and be ready to update your device this week. Let us know if you see marked improvements in speed and functionality.

Just over a month ago we saw mixed reports of Google Android 2.2 (Froyo) rolling out to Google Nexus One owners. It turns out it was only for certain devices, but there were various ways to get it onto your Nexus One. I loaded it up and was pleased with the improvements, including the Bluetooth voice control functionality. The good news is that Google announced Froyo is officially rolling out OTA to Nexus One owners. The update is rolling out gradually, but Google stated everyone should have it by the end of the week. YOu can check out the Android 2.2 Platform highlights page to see all the improvements and new features.

Now that the unlocked Google Nexus One officially has the Android 2.2 update, I am hopeful we will see carrier branded devices getting it over the next month or two. I can’t wait to see it on my Sprint HTC EVO 4G due to the new Home screen shortcuts, better Gallery, improved speed, better Bluetooth functionality, and support for the Adober Flash Player Mobile client.

Another target for thieving hackers!
ITSecurityGuy Updated - 29th Jun 2010
Oh great, another tech toy Adobe's Flash can offer up to the thieving hackers of the world!

P.S. Don't bother! The distinction between hackers & crackers was long ago eradicated by overwhelming common usage of the term hacker to refer to criminals implicitly, if not explicitly also.
