GDGT Live in Seattle brought out the Northwest techies

By | July 28, 2010, 7:49am PDT

Summary: Peter and Ryan held another great GDGT Live event in Seattle last night with a few hundred local techies coming out to enjoy a beautiful Seattle evening.

One of my favorite tech sites is GDGT so I was definitely not going to miss their GDGT Live event in Seattle that was held last night at the Showbox SoDo location. Peter and Ryan held a fun event that had something like 500 people coming out on a beautiful Seattle evening to check out the latest tech from several companies, get some nice swag, and just geek out with fellow techies for a few hours. As you walked in you were given a GDGT T-shirt, Incipio iPhone case, and GDGT stickers. They opened up an hour before hand for press so I was able to get in early and talk with folks from Incipio, Sling Media, Microsoft, HTC, v-moda, and more.

The event reminded me of a CES Digital Experience press event, but was open to the public (including kids) so anyone interested in tech had a chance to talk to companies like DivX, D-Link, Logitech, Sonos, Incipio, Seagate, Sling Media, Microsoft (Windows Phone and Zune), Belkin, Dragon Mobile Apps, Gazelle, HTC, PopBox, Real, T-Mobile, v-moda, Western Digital, Virgin America, and Waggener Edstrom. There were different giveaway drawings and even a cool Windows Phone developer challenge where Microsoft gave away a few Windows Phone 7 developer phones to those developers who showed up and demonstrated the best apps.

It was great to meet up with old friends, make some new contacts at tech companies, and share my thoughts with fellow geeks. Keep an eye on the GDGT site for future meetups in your area and if they do come to your town make sure to attend.

I think this would have been a great place to get familiar with the Sling box technology. I work for DISH Network where I first used this technology and it's great. I like that I was able to turn my Iphone/Ipad into a TV and take it with me where I go. I can now watch my shows when I stay in a motel or if on the light rail to work. This works so great. This gives me value and lets me maximize my entertainment. Find out more go to the DISH website for more info.
