HTC 7 Pro may be coming to Sprint this week as the Arrive

By | February 23, 2011, 4:30am PST

Summary: All rumors indicate that the HTC 7 Pro is likely coming to Sprint this week with the name Arrive. There are not many WP7 devices in the US so it will be nice to see a CDMA carrier finally get one.

There has been a limited number of official carrier Windows Phone 7 devices (one on T-Mobile and three on AT&T), which is why I think adoption has not been that great yet. Everyone I know that has tried this new OS has been quite pleased with it and even though it isn’t perfect it is fun and fresh. Sprint has been hinting that a new phone is coming this week and all indications are that it will be the first CDMA Windows Phone 7 device, a US version of the HTC 7 Pro already available in Europe. Engadget thinks it will be called the Arrive.

THe HTC 7 Pro has a 3.6 inch 480×800 display with a large side slide QWERTY keyboard. It has all the typical WP7 specs, including a 1 GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera, internal storage (8 GB in Europe), WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc. There is nothing really special about it, except for the large keyboard and the fact that it will be a CDMA variant on Sprint :)

I am interested in seeing if it launches with Sprint Navigation and other Sprint services or special apps too. Any readers looking to pick up this Sprint WP7 device?

Yes I'm on Sprint and have been waiting for a Windows Phone 7 ever since last year when it was announced. I plan to buy one of these phones as soon as it is available.

Au countraire, mon ami. The HTC 7 Pro appears to have the Touch Pro2 keyboard, which is thus far the pinnacle of mobile phone keyboards, unparalleled by even the wildest dreams of Nokia, RIM, HP or Motorola. In fact, it seems that this phone is the Winph7 version of the TP2, what with the angled slide-out and teasingly familiar form.

Sorry, meant to have a smiley face to show sarcasm

@Cerowyn Oops, I meant to state this as sarcasm and left off my smiley face. The Touch Pro2 keyboard was indeed FANTASTIC and I might just find myself picking one of these up too happy

The Tilt2, Tilt are fantastic devices (Touch Pro2 and Kaiser), and no other keyboard based phones match them. Also I find Hermes and Fuze keyboards are also rock solid, but they don't tilt.
Microsoft is evil their software sucks. I made the mistake of having a windows mobile phone a few years ago. It never worked. Android is the best option unless HP/Palm can survive and WebOS gains popularity.
@wop333
Well Windows Mobile is more rugged operating system, but has all the features that Android still lacks. The only issue with it is tiring UI for some. And Windows Phone 7 is not Windows Mobile eventhough they share Microsoft and start with Windows. So please.
So, what was Ballmer saying when he said that MS was bringing WP7 to SPRINT and Verizon in June? That statement was only a few weeks ago. Is this compensation for delayed updates to WP7? I don't think that works in the marketplace. Still, once SPRINT gets a WP7 with a least a 4" screen and 4G, I'm all in.
