HTC is rolling out the latest and greatest 4G smartphones and the latest one to join the HTC Inspire 4G and HTC ThunderBolt is the HTC Sensation 4G for T-Mobile USA. While this device has the now standard super smartphone 4.3 inch display, it is a qHD one (960x540 pixel resolution) that focuses on multimedia.

The HTC Sensation 4G will be available in the summer for an undisclosed price. It includes the following specifications:

  • Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread
  • 1.2 GHz dual-core processor
  • 768 MB of RAM
  • 1GB of ROM
  • microSD card slot
  • 4.3 inch qHD display
  • 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash
  • VGA front facing camera
  • 802.11 b/g/n WiFi
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • GPS/aGPS receiver
  • 1530 mAh battery
  • Dimensions: 126.1 x 65.4 x 11.3 mm and 148 grams

It has a unibody aluminum casing and really looks fantastic. This may just be my next T-Mobile device, if I can let go of my WP7 ones.

The HTC Sensation 4G also has the new HTC Watch service that gives you access to movie and TV show rentals and purchases. You can watch content on up to five HTC devices. Too bad there is no kickstand to make watching content easier.

You may have also seen this rumored as the HTC Pyramid before this announcement and that global device should be launching in May or June too.

No, I am not comparing it with iPhone definitely, but it is better than rest of the Androids out there. The best phone from HTC after EVO 4G definitely.

@denisrs do you realize that the average PPI for a picture is about 240? Do you realize that you would need a 10" screen to see the slightest difference between these resolutions and that screen under 6" really won't show a perceived difference?

As for your gluing BS, most major LCD vendors do glue the layers together as does Sony (with their SLCD) which this screen very well could be.

Also, the qHD just means that the screen is Quarter HD and will scale movies proportionately (the iPhone will not)...

As for the iPS technology, Sony SLCD rivals the viewing angles, Super Amoled exceeds the viewing angles and Black Level as well as Contrast Ratio...

This IPS Crap you keep pushing is not the top screen technology on the market or even in a cell phone.

Also, Android Apps scale dynamically so they are not built to the 320x240 specs that the 1.5 legacy apps had...

Crud man, my Thunderbolt display rivals the iPhone 4 in most areas with the iPhone only having a slightly higher resolution. The Galaxy phones super amoleds kill the Retina Display in pretty much every area as the contrast of the amoleds actually increase the sharpness.

any thoughts on how frequencies will be affected with the merger/committing to a 2 year contract?

@deancollins I was told the quad bands would be safe with the dual bands being a problem.
