Kevin and I had a chance to catch up after the busy week of CES and the Verizon iPhone announcement on MobileTechRoundup show #227. Kevin was able to attend CES so I asked him about all the 4G smartphones and tablets that he saw while he was in Vegas. The Verizon iPhone 4 was announced so we had to talk about that, of course. We also covered the growth of the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace and other upcoming mobile events. Kevin shared a freeware of the show that I plan to download and try out soon.

Please let me know if you have any topics you want us to cover on a future show and make sure to join us live each week on Ustream. We find it very helpful to have audience participation where we can address your questions on the show live.

    post a transcript, I will ignore your post. As I have said many times before, I prefer to be able to skim, to see if a blog is worth reading. An audio file forces me to listed to the whole damn thing.

    To be brutally frank, it is lousy marketing of your product.

      @Economister
Their product is the 21st century radio show: a podcast.

A transcription would remove the reason to listen and it requires time and resources to create. If the bottom line is that it enables Mr. economister to manage his time, I would be surprised if Messrs. Miller and Tofel see much upside for the cost.

Listen. Don't listen. The world does not care.

    If anybody's having the heart beats, then it must be the folks at tracfone. For years now tracfone have been kind enough to supply att's iphone owners a very good CDMA back up phone that can do the job of a phone, allowing them proud iphoners the luxury toy office. With a phone on the side. If the new verizon iphone can do the basics, then tracfone stands to lose, and they must in turn be hoping not too many people desert att. On the flip side, the new iphone might be as bad as the other att version, which means even more phone saqles for tracfone.

    I wanted to weigh in on your discussion of iPhone announcement schedules. The Verizon announcement was that, a Verizon announcement. Its timing was primarily dictated by the ending date of AT&T (US) exclusivity. One really interesting thing is their CEO keynoted a day at CES and Verizon chose to have the announcement after the show.

I think it would be a mistake to believe that its timing in any way suggests any changes to Apple's iPhone announcements in June, iPod announcements in September track record.

My guess, the next anticipated refresh of the iPhone in June will apply to all carriers and whether it's the 4[Whatever] or 5, Verizon and AT&T customers will be able to buy the same model (different flavors, of course) on that day.
