Nokia launches unique Nokia Legends advertising campaign

While it remains to be seen whether or not the Seinfeld/Gates Microsoft ads are effective, funny, or stupid, mobile phone companies are getting quite creative with their advertising and I have to say I am liking what I am seeing. Sony Ericsson kicked off their recent Johnny X video promotion for the SE XPERIA X1 launch. Today we see the launch of the new Nokia Legends campaign that I personally think is very cool.

Nokia is using a format of an old time newspaper format that is completely interactive online to show short films of future innovations and technologies. The film stories are told by Law & Order actor Ron McLarty. As you pan around the "newspaper" the hand changes to a pointer finger to indicate clicking it will take you to a Nokia site with more product details or will start the short film on that page. You can also select the icons over on the left side of the page to be quickly taken to the "newspaper article/ad" that promotes the technology stated on the icon. It is an interesting advertising campaign that is trying to inform readers about the cool things you can will be able to do with a Nokia device. I am not sure how often the "newspaper" is updated, but plan to check it out from time to time myself.

Check out the great blog post on Darla Mack's site where they go into more detail about all the future technologies that Nokia is showcasing with this Legends campaign.
