Opera Mobile 9.7 beta now available for WM devices

By | June 8, 2009, 6:54am PDT

Summary: Back in March I had the chance to check out Opera Mobile 9.7 at CTIA running on a Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1. Today, Opera announced that Opera Mobile 9.7 beta for Windows Mobile touchscreen devices is available for everyone to download and try out. I have been using it on an HTC Touch Pro2 and Pharos Traveler 137 for a couple of days and plan to post a video a bit later tonight of the new browser in action.

The biggest new feature in Opera Mobile 9.7 is the integration of Opera Turbo, which is their server based solution so you now can get the power of Opera Mobile with the speed and data savings found in Opera Mini. There is a host of other features too, including Opera Widgets, improved UI, and more. As you can see on the download page you will need a Windows Mobile 5/6 touchscreen device to use this latest version of Opera Mobile.

That is fantastic that Opera Mobile is available for windows mobile now. With all of the new touchscreens that are bigger and brighter, this new browser should be really good.

Agreed - totally agreed. For a "tech" journal, the quality of their web programming is pretty low.

. . . and it's not just whatever they're using to push the news stories, their Talkback has had its share of issues as well.
besides opera 9.7 beta defaults to wap pages on my phone anyway.
Which is odd because a earlier version comes with my touch hd and does not do this on most pages.
