Summary: I will be covering CTIA on my ZDNet blogs next week and just received a press release that Opera will be announcing Opera Mobile 9.7 at the event. Opera Mobile is the best web browser currently available for Windows Mobile devices and looks to be getting even better with Opera Turbo and Presto 2.2 rendering engine. This updated browser also offers full support for dynamic web technologies like Ajax and Flash.

I haven’t seen any announcement yet from HTC, but since they include Opera Mobile in many of their current high end devices, sometimes as the default browser of IE Mobile, I imagine that their upcoming new devices will use this latest 9.7 version of Opera Mobile as well. HTC and Opera also have worked together in the past to create device-optimized versions and we can probably expect that in the future as well. I find that Opera Mobile on HTC devices actually text reflows better than the Safari browser on my iPhone and offers a fantastic browsing experience.

Opera Mini is the server-based version of their mobile browser and the Turbo feature now adds some of that server side acceleration to the dedicated mobile browser in Opera Mobile 9.7 so you get the best of both worlds for a faster experience. YOu can check out Opera Mobile 9.7 with Opera Turbo in this video and you can bet I’ll be checking it out in person myself next week too.

Mmmm, HTC Touch Diamond / Pro, nice phone. happy

I've tried all the other browsers on my Diamond (Iris, Skyfire, Mini, IE) and I still find that overall, Opera Mobile is the best. Skyfire was pretty good for those sites that absolutely wouldn't work in Mobile but I found it wholly inadequate as a full time replacement for Opera Mobile. I'm really looking forward to any improvements that can be made on what, in my experience, is the #1 very best mobile browser currently available on any mobile platform.
