I posted my first impressions of Quickoffice for the iPhone and am happy to report that the folks at Quickoffice are continuing aggressive development to improve the application. I received word that an update has been submitted to the App Store with the following fixes:

Quickoffice

  • Added the ability for users to email files
  • Added the ability to mount the iPhone as a drive (plug into computer to transfer files)
  • Fixed the shift acting as caps-lock defect

Quicksheet

  • Added the ability to mount the iPhone as a drive

Quickword

  • New application submission (Will appear as its own app like Quicksheet)
  • Feature parity with the Word portion of QO
  • Ability to mount as a drive & email files
  • Fixed the shift acting as caps-lock defect

However, there is still the issue of the predictive text not working in Quickword. I hope they get this working because it is the way people use their keyboards on the iPhone and is essential for accuracy. They do have it working in text fields in Quicksheet, but I am not a developer and cannot address the difficulty in getting it to work.

I also understand that receiving attachments and doing anything with them is an Apple "sandbox" limitation that Quickoffice can not do anything about. At least they added the drive ability, which is much more convenient than connecting via WiFi to get files onto and off of the iPhone.
