REDFLY Smartphone Terminal now supports Opera Mobile 9.5

REDFLY Smartphone Terminal now supports Opera Mobile 9.5

Summary: As a 2+ hour daily commuter I have been enjoying the REDFLY Smartphone Terminal for quite some time now. One thing that always bothered me is that I had to install and use an older version of Opera Mobile (8.65) to be able to work in a decent browser on the REDFLY. I just read on Brighthand that the latest beta drivers, discussed here on WMExperts, include support for Opera Mobile 9.5. You can check out the beta page to see the full list of supported devices and detailed change log.

In addition to Opera Mobile 9.5 support, this latest update includes the following:

  • Major speed improvements when connected over USB cable
  • Bluetooth bug fixes
  • Increased compatibility with some Today Screen plugins (SPB Mobile Shell)
  • Increased compatibility with many third-party apps

There are still a few issues with the latest Windows Mobile devices. TouchFLO is not supported, the Choose Panel window on the XPERIA X1 doesn't work, and some Samsung OMNIA themes and widgets have issues.

It is great to see support for Opera Mobile 9.5 and that was my biggest issue with using the REDFLY with some of my devices. I think this fix alone will have me using the REDFLY more and more.
