SE XPERIA X1 appears to be available now in Sweden

Summary: One of the most anticipated new devices in the Windows Mobile market, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 now appears to be available in Sweden. Daily Mobile has unboxing photos of a production model and I plan to follow their site for more thoughts on the device. I saw a couple of early models of the XPERIA X1, but you could see some early software issues in them so I can't wait to actually see the device in production mode. I am also hoping we see a 1700 MHz model for T-Mobile USA.

Like HTC and Samsung, Sony Ericsson has taken great lengths to customize the X1 and give it a look and feel that "hides" Windows Mobile under its panels. The slide out keyboard looks very functional and the X1 also uses a unique touch sensitive pad on the front. Did any readers order one from an importer yet or are you waiting for an official US release?

  • Waiting in agony...

I personal am waiting for the official US release. I'm currently using my outdated SE W800i till the X1 is available. I am hoping it will be released unlocked. I can't stand being limited to operating my phone with in the limits of the provider. My brother acquired a first gen. Apple IPhone, and he was a little miffed about not being able to assign his own MP3's as rigntones, or loading application. Any word on the US release date and the cost, will Sony Ericsson try and compete with the IPhone, or do they see this as an elitist phone for high end users?

  • 1700 MHz?

Has anyone gotten solid proof that the X1 will ever be available with the 1700 MHz band? I've heard speculuation and seen specifications of the phone without.
