Slacker taking on Rhapsody with new Premium Radio service

Streaming music from Slacker Radio is one of my favorite things to do on Android and iOS devices and Slacker is revealing their new subscription model where you control the content being served up on your device.

I am a big fan of Slacker Radio on the iOS and Android platforms and love using the cached stations feature for listening to music on the airplane when I have no connection. Tonight in New York City Slacker Radio will be revealing their new third tier offering for the serious music fan, Slacker Premium Radio.

Slacker will soon have three tiers of service:

  1. Slacker Basic Radio (free)
  2. Slacker Radio Plus ($3.99/mo with unlimited song skipping/requesting, no ads and caching)
  3. Slacker Premium Radio ($9.99/mo with on-demand listening)

The new Slacker Premium Radio service will allow you to more closely control your listening experience so you can hear entire albums from an artist of your choice, create custom playlists, search for and play specific songs and more. This new offering is similar to what we see from Rhapsody and is something that people have been asking for. I personally am quite happy with a variety of music and like the Radio Plus service on my devices.
