We saw the Verizon leak of the DROID Incredible yesterday and today HTC and Verizon made the announcement official at the 99% Conference with a confirmation of availability of 29 April. The slide yesterday was a bit wrong as the HTC DROID Incredible will actually sport HTC Sense rather than the Google Experience so this is one differentiator between this and the Google Nexus One. NFL Mobile and Skype Mobile are also confirmed for this device and I have to say this device is making me consider a trade of my Palm Pre Plus for it since my Pre Plus keeps giving me the multiple letter error. Then again, free tethering is a $40/month value and there is no tethering with these Google Android devices.

Confirmed specs for the HTC Incredible include the following:

  • Android 2.1 with HTC Sense experience
  • 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor for maximum responsiveness
  • Friend Stream for unified Flickr, Facebook and Twitter updates
  • Leap view for quick access to all seven home screen panels
  • 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash for crisp, detailed images
  • Razor-sharp 3.7 inch WVGA (480x800) AMOLED capacitive touch display
  • Optical joystick for smooth navigation
  • Dedicated, touch-sensitive Home, Menu, Back and Search keys
  • Proximity sensor, light sensor and digital compass
  • Integrated GPS
  • Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g)
  • 3.5 mm headset jack

It will be available on 29 April for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and contract.

  • It does tether...

...at least according to the manual that was leaked last
week. However its not free so it probably doesn't make
    much difference lol.

    • All Android phones can (theoretically) teather

You just have to download an application that does that for you. I've been using PDANet on my Droid and it's amazing how easy it is. Within a few minutes of getting home with my new phone I was teathered.

Of course what I have is a trial version but its so useful I'll probably end up spending the $23.95 to buy it when the trial expires. And you don't have to pay verizon.

      • Yes there the unofficial way...

...but I believe they will come down on you if
they figure out that you're doing that. At least
        thats what I've read.

  • Prepare for the Advertising Blitz!

This is going to be a hot phone. I think Verizon is going
to do a Motorola Droid style blitz of adds, should really
    sell well on introduction.

    • I agree...

I'm actually anxious to see how they transition
from one phone to the next. I doubt they'd let it
      go unadvertised like the Eris.

I tether (USB and Bluetooth) all the time for free on my Droid! Really amazed with the speed considering its through a phone.
