Will Google release another Nexus flagship in time for the holidays?

Google's Nexus line offers a pure Android experience that gets updated before everyone else and we should see one with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) launching before the end of 2011.

I loved my Nexus One and it is one of the rare smartphone purchases that I regret ever giving up on and selling. I was not that impressed with the latest Nexus S 4G device and want to see HTC get back into the Google Nexus race, which is what Boy Genius Report posted in their rumor post today about a possible Nexus 4G being released prior to Thanksgiving.

Google revealed their Ice Cream Sandwich plans at Google I/O recently so it makes sense that one of the first devices to launch with this OS will be their pure Google Nexus device. BGR's sources indicate these may be the specifications of this device:

  • Next generation dual core 1.2GHz or 1.5GHz processor
  • 720p display (which may mean 1280 x 720 pixel resolution)
  • 4G LTE radio
  • 1GB RAM
  • 1080p HD video capture
  • Front facing camera
  • 5 megapixel rear camera

We don't know the screen size, but the leaked rumored photos show it being in the 4" plus range. The LTE radio indicates Verizon is a likely target, but AT&T/T-Mobile will be getting LTE too so maybe it will support these carriers. I think 5 megapixel cameras are just fine for smartphone as long as the optics and software are done right so we get decent photos. Most WP7 5 megapixel cameras suck, but Nokia has shown you can have great 5 megapixel shooters so it can be done.

Chris Zeigler at This is my Next also seems pretty excited about this Nexus device.
