Will the rumored HTC Eternity be one of the first new Mango devices?
Summary: HTC is one of the premier Windows Phone 7 manufacturers and the rumored HTC Eternity is an expected device with a few spec upgrades. It isn't always about the specs though as the UI tends to be what people are after today.
Boy Genius Report posted some information on a likely HTC Windows Phone Mango device codenamed HTC Eternity. There is nothing shocking about this rumor and the device is exactly what one would expect for a second generation device and successor to the HTC HD7 with some minor specification updates.
This rumored device may have a 4.7 inch SLCD display, which is one of the largest we have seen on a phone. The processor looks to be a 1.5GHz model, similar to the one in their HTC Flyer. Other specs include a rather slow HSDPA radio at only 14.4 Mbps, 8 megapixel camera, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, limited 16GB internal memory, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, older Bluetooth 2.1 radio and other standard specs.
While it is nice to see some bumps in specs, I sure hope the final product has at least 32GB since you can't extend the storage capacity with a removable microSD card. I also expect devices to support 21.1 Mbps and higher HSPA+ and LTE networks in late 2011 and 2012.

- MUCH improved marketplace, faster, nicer Games Hub, game sub categories can now be filtered by new, XBL, free, and paid, so free games are much easier to discover than before when they were all crammed into one huge list of 4k free games.
- Built in Windows Live Messenger to the Messages hub, so you can connect to Live and chat with friends using an interface almost identical to text messaging on WP7.
- The task switching is obviously a big deal. For WP7.0 apps it doesn't make a huge difference, but still works great for the browser and the other built in WP7.5 apps/tools.
- Just a snappier more polished and full featured mobile experience now. They didn't abandon any of their core concepts for UI, etc, but they sure did do some major refining.
Anyway, its awesome! I can't wait for everyone to get Mango so I can start using all these beastly new APIs. :-)

When will WP7 be able to sync with Outlook and Office without having to go to the Cloud? This is what's stopping me from buying a new phone.

Why would they go 14.4 and bluetooth 2.1?
While it may not matter to the masses, it does matter to the analysts, and that is who the carriers listen to and the story that is parrotted by their reps.
I really hope they at least make it a 21.1 radio and the newer bluetooth radio, and for sure additional removable storage.
With their Android patent trouble, they may as well take full advantage of WP7.5.
