HP adds 6 new desktops using Intel's Ivy Bridge processors

Remember when HP was going to stop selling PCs? That was then, and this is now: The tech giant has just expanded its desktop lineup with a half-dozen new models that make use of Intel's new Ivy Bridge processors.

HP has evenly divided the new systems between all-in-ones (AIOs) and traditional towers. The new Omni 220qd is a 21.5-inch AIO featuring Beats Audio and starting at $999, while the Omni 27qd bumps the screen up to 27 inches and the price to $1,199. The third new AIO is the TouchSmart 520xt (shown above), which offers a 23-inch touch-screen display for $999.

The towers receiving the third-generation Intel Core processors include the $699 Pavilion HPE h8t and the $799 Pavilion HPE h8xt -- the "x" meaning "extra power," presumably. HP also has a new flagship gaming desktop in the form of the Pavilion HPE h9t Phoenix, which will start at $1,149. While HP hasn't publicly released any additional specs, a little sleuthing around the HP site shows configuration options for the Phoenix including the Core i5-3570K or Core i5-3550 processors and AMD Radeon HD 7950 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti graphics.

The Phoenix will be the first Ivy Bridge model released by HP -- on April 29 -- with the others not arriving until June 24.
