Atom, the Intel processor that launched a 1,000 netbooks, received a mild refresh today in the form of the new N470 CPU, part of the "Pine Trail" series. It boosts clock speed from the already released N450's 1.66GHz to 1.83GHz while using the same GMA 3150 integrated graphics. Unfortunately, Engadget reports that the N470 doesn't provide much of a speed bump in the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t it's currently testing, posting similar PCMark05 test scores as N450-based systems.

Speaking of Engadget, the tech blog spotted a couple of more rumored Atom processors listed among the placards at Asus' CeBIT booth. The Eee PC 1015PE showed specs listing the N455 and N475 as processor options, though neither of them has been officially announced. However, Intel will be holding a press event tomorrow, where it now seems likely that these Atoms will be introduced. How much of a difference these will offer compared to the N450 and N470 would presumably also be disclosed, though if the N470's improvement are as anemic as suggested, you shouldn't get your hopes up.
