Canon EOS 60D, Nikon Coolpix P7000 get firmware updates

By | December 16, 2010, 8:07am PST

Summary: ‘Tis the season of firmware updates, including one each for the Canon EOS 60D and the Nikon Coolpix P7000.

With the holiday shopping season nearing an end and CES 2011 around the corner, there aren’t many new camera announcements lately. So it’s the season of firmware updates, including one each for the Canon EOS 60D and the Nikon Coolpix P7000.

First up is the EOS 60D. Firmware v1.0.8 is intended to fix “the phenomenon in which captured images may become overexposed when using the camera’s built-in flash or an external Speedlite” in combination with four specific lenses. The identity of those lenses as well as instructions for how to download and install the firmware update are available on Canon’s website here.

Then we have the Coolpix P7000 with its version 1.1 software update, which reduces recording time for RAW images and fixes bugs related to zoom operation and lens control. There are two versions, one for Windows and one for Mac. So pick your poison (rather, remedy) accordingly.
