This camera is a waste of money as Olympus SP800.
High pixel but terrible picture. Lots of visible annoying eyes sore dots whatever you call it, especially the blue clear sky because sky usually plain simple color will show whatever bad pixels a camera has.
Megazoom camera releases seem to be far less frequent than other models, but now we have three in one day! Say hello to the FinePix S2800HD, which Fujifilm heralds as the “world’s smallest” 18x zoom lens camera.
For reference’s sake, the S2800HD measures in at 4.3- x 2.9- x 3.2-inches. Hosting a 28-420mm equivalent zoom lens, the FinePix addition is a fairly standard superzoom device by today’s standards. The S2800HD does capture HD photos in 1080p, but HD video mode is only capable of shooting 720p.
Here’s a look at what else is packed in that compact frame:
- 14-megapixel CCD sensor
- 3.0-inch LCD screen
- f3.1-5.6 aperture range
- ISO up to 6,400
- Tracking AutoFocus
- Panorama mode
- Connectivity: USB 2.0, HDMI, NTSC/PAL output
A major downer is that this megazoom is powered by four AA batteries. At least you get a quartet to start off with included in the box.
Unfortunately, the cost and a release date still haven’t been revealed. Despite the small frame record factor, the rest of the specs on the S2800HD don’t merit an over-the-top price tag.
UPDATE: The FinePix S2800HD will be available in early September for $259.95. Sounds just about right.
