Following on the tails of its 3D consumer camcorder announcement, Panasonic has also announced that it is in the process of developing a 3D lens for its Lumix G Micro Four Thirds series of interchangeable lens compact digital cameras. (Of course, dSLR shooters already have this option for shooting 3D images.)

Though pictures aren’t yet available for the new twin-lens 3D design, it will likely work similarly to the 3D conversion lens used on the Panasonic HDC-SDT750 camcorder announced earlier today (pictured above).

According to Panasonic, the new lens will feature two sets of lenses, within a single lens mount, that create dual images that are then processed with a 3D image processing system. The company plans to have the new lens available before the end of 2010.
