Replacing the K-7 midrange digital SLR, Pentax has introduced the K-5 as its new flagship model at Photokina in Germany today.
With the exception of the almost identical weather-sealed magnesium alloy body, the K-5 is a huge upgrade from the K-7. Boasting a 16.2-megapixel CMOS sensor, the K-5 has an ISO range from 80 to 12800 (actually expandable to 51200 with a custom feature) and an improved High Dynamic Range system.
Some of the other highlights on the K-5 include:

- 3-inch LCD screen (921k-dot resolution)
- 100% viewfinder coverage
- 11-point autofocus system
- Shake reduction
