Pentax is updating its rugged compact camera offerings with a pair of new options: the Optio WG-1 and WG-1 GPS.
Both of these Optio cameras are highly durable. Some examples:
- Waterproof to 33 feet
- Shockproof to withstand falls up to five feet
- Crushproof to withstand up to 220 pounds
- Coldproof to sub-freezing temps of -10 degrees C/14 degrees F
- Dustproof
Some of the actual camera-related specs include the wide-angle 28-140mm equivalent lens with 5X optical zoom, 720p HD video recording at 30fps, Eye-Fi wireless SD memory card connectivity, an enhanced digital microscope mode for macro lighting and face detection. The WG-1 GPS stands apart because it (obviously) has GPS capabilities.
Bundled with a woven web fabric strap with a carabiner, both cameras will be rolled out in April. The WG-1 will be available in black and purple for $349.95, while that GPS functionality will ring up the price to $399.95 for the Optio WG-1 GPS, outfitted in black or yellow green (pictured above).
