Samsung debuts PL200 budget digital camera with 7x optical zoom

Along with the new and improved DualView models, Samsung has a point-and-shoot for the budget-conscious: the Samsung PL200.

The PL200 is not a shabby pocket camera at all. The 14.2-megapixel shooter hosts a 3-inch rear TFT LCD screen and boasts 7x optical zoom on that 31mm-217mm equivalent lens, plus dual optical and digital image stabilization.

The ultra-compact camera also records 720p HD video at 30 fps in H.264 format, and you can also use the Smart Auto scene recognition feature in both video and still modes.

With three colors to choose from (black, silver and red), the Samsung PL200 will be available in September for $179.99.
