Sanyo intros VPC-CA102YL waterproof HD camcorder before summer's end

August is the last true month of summer for most of the country, so it’s probably good timing for Sanyo to debut the waterproof VPC-CA102YL camcorder just in time for those late summer adventures.

Falling within the Xacti series, the latest Sanyo handheld camcorder records full HD 1080p 60i video in  in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format and shoots 14-megapixel stills. Besides the obvious handheld and vertical design, one of the key features is the waterproof element. Users can bring this one this one up to 10 feet under the sea.

Additional notable features on the compact Sanyo VPC-CA102YL include:

  • Movable 2.7-inch wide LCD screen
  • 38mm wide-angle lens
  • 12x double range zoom
  • 5x optical zoom
  • Support for Eye-Fi SD cards
