Sony S-Frame digital photo frame series boasts AVCHD video playback

Summary: Sony has another photography-related release for us today, and this one comes with a twist. The new S-Frame digital photo frame series does more than just displaying photos - it also comes with AVCHD video playback.

Sony has another photography-related release for us today, and this one comes with a twist. The new S-Frame digital photo frame series does more than just displaying photos - it also comes with AVCHD video playback.

Out of the three models being announced today, the video playback feature is available via media card on the 10.2-inch DPF-XR100 and DPF-VR100 models. Each of these also boast a WSVGA LED backlight LCD screen, stereo audio, an alarm clock, and even Panorama playback. The XR100 stands apart with Sony’s own TruBlack technology, which boosts contrast and reduces reflection.

The third model is the lower-end (read: more affordable), 8-inch DPF-D83. Sporting a SVGA LED backlight LCD display, this is portable gadget is Sony’s first digital photo frame with built-in rechargeable battery, which can squeeze up to 100 minutes of use time when only on photo-mode.

Each of the screens here include 2GB of internal memory. When launched this Novemeber, the DPF-VR100 and DPF-XR100 S-Frames will retail for $200 and $250, while the DPF-D83 will cost $150.
