Top 10 iPhone photo apps

By | June 29, 2010, 12:17pm PDT

Summary: A quick Google search will turn up tons of top iPhone photo app lists, but the latest list announced today chooses from among apps iPhone photography enthusiasts actually use.

With over 2,500 photography-related iPhone apps in the iTunes App Store, it’s getting harder and harder to separate the wheat from the chaff. There are lots of top photo app lists — from the Top Paid and Top Free photography apps listed in the iTunes store itself, to lists from the New York TimesPhoto District News, Time Inc.’s Techland, and countless others.

The latest list comes from photography superstore, Adorama, which announced the winners of its first annual APPOS - iPhone App Awards for Photography today. What stands out about this top photo app list is that the winners were chosen from apps that avid iPhone photographers actually use. You see, Adorama also ran an iPhone photography contest that drew over 17,000 image submissions. A panel of judges then selected the top 10 iPhone apps from among the apps that were most frequently used to create the 17,000 images. The six judges included acclaimed photographers, journalists, photojournalists, and oddly, sports radio show hosts.

In any case, it’s a great list which includes some obvious choices like Photoshop.com Mobile and the trendy Hipstamatic (photo above), as well as lesser-know picks like Lo-mob.

Check out the full list below, and don’t miss the actual photo entries, great testaments to what you can do with a cameraphone (all pre iPhone 4, I might add).

Photoshop.com Mobile
CameraBag
Best Camera
Photogene
TiltShift Generator – Fake Miniature
ShakeItPhoto
Hipstamatic
PhotoForge
Lo-Mob

I would add Moquu. You can take photo sequences and make them interactive. It's lot of fun.
You can make things like this: http://www.moqu.us/m/GhS9n
