Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has the most Google+ followers

Summary: You would think a Google employee would have the most Google+ followers, but it turns out that Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is number one.

Ever since Google+ launched, there has been one user that has had significantly more followers than anybody else. Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg tops the list; he even has more followers than Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, according to SocialStatistics.

It must be somewhat embarrassing to Google that none of its employees are followed more than Zuckerberg. Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten, the website's creator, explained the curiosity to TechCrunch: "He has the most friends in the world, they made a movie about him, and he is more handsome than the Larry and Sergey."

The list, which can show a maximum of 100 users per apge, is currently full of technology employees and bloggers, which shows that Google+ has yet to be picked up by the general public. Once it does, I'm sure the likes of Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and Ashton Kutcher will top the list.

SocialStatistics is still in early alpha, so not all of the accounts have been parsed into the system just yet, according to The Next Web, which Veldhuijzen van Zanten writes for. If you want to speed up the process, head over to Google+ and find your unique identifier in your profile URL. Then go back to SocialStatistics and paste it at the bottom of the page.

    Note that Sergey and Larry both have 0 friends. The Google execs are not interacting. Sergey especially is posting photos of his fabulous life and not responding to any comments.

    • Give Google time, they'll make sure that

      @jeffelder
      both Googe founders get more "friends" on google+ then Zuckerberg, even if they have to rewrite some code to make it automatic - like if Zuckerberg hits 75, then the founders will have X amount above 75 of friends added to the founders accounts automaticly. :)
