Zara Phillips declares Facebook dangerous, prefers Skype

By | September 5, 2011, 12:07pm PDT

Summary: Britain’s Zara Phillips, Queen Elizabeth’s eldest granddaughter, believes Facebook is dangerous. She prefers using the phone or Skype instead.

Britain’s Zara Phillips, Queen Elizabeth’s eldest granddaughter, revealed in a recent interview that Facebook is not for her. Maybe it’s because she has a reputation for rebelliousness, and thus doesn’t want her crazy party photos all over the press, but the recently married royal simply refuses to join the social network.

“I think Facebook’s dangerous,” told Tatler magazine. So many people I know get into trouble with Facebook…I’d rather just pick up the phone. Or Skype.”

I wonder if Phillips knows that Skype and Facebook have a very close relationship. When Skype 5.0 was released in October 2010, the new version offered a Facebook tab to allow users to SMS, chat with, or call their Facebook friends via Skype directly from the News Feed. Two months ago, Facebook launched video calling on the social network, powered by Skype.

Either way, Phillips’ viewpoint contrasts with the Queen herself who set up her own dedicated Facebook Page in November 2010. The British Monarchy Facebook Page has so far garnered over 500,000 Facebook Likes.

It's almost as if she'd never been on Facebook, has no idea what the Rounds video chat app is (where only your known contacts can call you -- http://www.rnds.me/bc ). She is clearly someone who reads the tabloids too much...probably looking for info about herself! LOL
