Founded in 1960, Domino’s Pizza is one of the world’s leading pizza delivery brands. It is the leading player in the fast-growing pizza delivery market in the UK and holds the exclusive master franchise to own, operate and franchise Domino’s Pizza stores in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Germany.

In its Quarter One Interim Management Statement for 13 weeks to 25th March 2012 it attributes 16.4 per cent of its £59.3 million (about $95 million) sales taken through one of its many mobile platforms.

In fact, over £1million in sales were taken through its mobile platforms in a single week.

It has grown its e-commerce sales too, with over 50 per cent of the deliveries originating online, up from 39.3 per cent in 2011 and 27.8 per cent in 2009.  In 1999 Domino's became the first pizza delivery company in the world to offer nationwide internet ordering across the UK.

It is active in other social media channels too, with over 500,000 likes on its Facebook page and almost 22,000 followers on Twitter.

Domino's has made it easy for customers to order pizza from their mobile devices.  There are iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows Phone 7 apps available. The iPhone app has a pizza slot machine feature, where if you are unable to decide what you would like on your pizza, you can shake your phone and let the app choose for you.

According to Google, by 2013 more people will use mobile phones than PC's to get online, with one mobile device for every person on earth by 2015.  We expect our mobiles to connect with local businesses. Smart businesses are leading in their m-commerce activities.

And the opportunity to take £1 million in revenue from mobile devices in a week shows that the future of commerce is in the palms of our hands.
