A few weeks ago one of my relatives (a self-proclaimed Internet dilettante) asked me to explain how I got into social media. I thought that was an odd question. Does one really get into social media? When you strip it away to its core, social media is not much more than a bidirectional communications method or what many of the experts simply call "a conversation." The trickiest part of social media is determining the right tools to use to complement your personal communications and improve your company's business strategies.

So that's what I plan to write about. Simply called "Feeds" (largely because "microblogginglifestreamingbloggingpodcastingetc" was far too long), this blog will feature news on social media tools and trends and deep dives into business strategies. We'll talk to the pundits and the developers and the master communicators about what's working, what doesn't and what's coming down the pike.

It will be one big, ongoing conversation. I hope you'll join in.
