3D is about to take over New York City…literally. The 3D Experience festival is all set to roll into Times Square next month.

The three-day expo, which will take place from September 24-26, will include a showroom of 3D tech products hosted by Best Buy and its trusty Geek Squad.

And it wouldn’t be a truly 3D experience without some 3D films, which will be shown at the AMC Theaters Empire 25 nearby. Showings will be open to the public, and tickets won’t go on sale until the last minute: September 24.

Since CES back in January, 3D has definitely proven to be more than just a passing trend, so it will be interesting to see at the 3D Experience where the industry plans to goes from here.

3-D will be a passing trend in movie theatres - except explosion and monster movies, and most TV except wrestling, music videos, and christian fundamentalist - "miracle"-type shows which crave not only "realism", but literalness.
3-D will stick as net porn, and on iPad - iPhone type products. Imagine holding in your hand the person's head (or body parts) seemingly solid! Transfixed road crossers will get hit by cars and die leaving grief-stricken families and drivers.
