Marvell and 4Home have partnered and developed the Plug Computer, a new energy-monitoring solution that essentially records energy usage throughout your home whenever plugged into an electrical outlet.

Based on Marvell’s original SheevaPlug, users can track energy usage and plan accordingly for that next electric bill. This should be particularly helpful with extreme weather conditions, like those scary bills during the summer with high AC usage or when using portable heaters during the winter months.

Not only can the Plug Computer predict daily, monthly and yearly stats based on the current energy usage levels, but the plug can also create alerts should the home’s inhabitants be using more energy than previously alloted during a specified time period.

The Marvell/4Home device doesn’t require any configuration, so it’s basically plug-and-play. No word on pricing or availability yet, so try to keep your electrical usage to a minimum in case it is hard to keep track.
