It’s a big day for AMD with the introduction of not just one or two, but five new ATI FirePro professional-class graphics cards that don’t have many frills but should help improve productivity.

As there are so many additions to the ATI FirePro GPU family, let’s break it down simply starting with the more general-use FirePro 2460, and then upward from entry-level to high-end graphics cards. Also keep in mind that all of these cards support Open CL, Open GL 4.0 and Microsoft DirectX 11.

ATI FirePro 2460 Multi-View

  • Low-profile form
  • Average board power consumption: 13 watts
  • 512MB of video memory
  • Four Mini DisplayPort outputs
  • Supports up to four displays with ATI Eyefinity technology
  • Best for “financial traders”

ATI FirePro V3800

  • 512 MB of DDR3 memory
  • 30-bit display
  • Supports up to three displays with ATI Eyefinity technology
  • Best for “entry-level 3D graphics professionals”

ATI FirePro V4800

  • 1GB of GDD5 memory
  • Best for “entry-level CAD users”

ATI FirePro V5800

  • 1 GB of GDDR5 memory
  • Supports up to three displays with ATI Eyefinity technology

ATI FirePro V7800

  • Compact single-slot form
  • 2GB of GDDR5 memory
  • Supports up to three 30-inch displays with ATI Eyefinity technology
All of these cards are expected to be available for shipment from major online retailers like Tiger Direct and Newegg, among others, this week.

Where do you think they might put information like that? Perhaps on a web site?

Question on specs
TrueDinosaur 27th Apr 2010
The 2460 specs say max digital resolution is 2560x1600. Is that per screen or total output to be divided by up to 4 screens?
I am so confused. happy

mitfur 27th Apr 2010
The 2460 support 4x full display port outputs so
this means its supports 4x 2560x1600 monitors but
only in display port.

The max DVI resolution is 1920x1200 x4.

The V3800 does not run three displays.

However, the 4800 (and up) does.

ATI, spare us the marketspeak...
paul613 27th Apr 2010
So one card is "best for financial apps," a second
"supports up to three displays...," and so on? Please,
ATI: Tell us plainly how they differ. That's like Dell's
site asking, "Do you want a computer for home, small
business, or large business?" I don't trust that the
model I want will be in the first category I choose. Show
me them all, and let me decide which model serves me
best.
