As reported yesterday, the Android 2.2 update is finally official, ready and heading for an HTC Droid Incredible near you today.

It has taken a very long time for Froyo to finally reach this HTC smartphone, which has been on a roller coaster of sorts this summer from going out of stock thanks to high demand and the AMOLED shortage, to finally being available again. After weeks of rumors about when the much-awaited (highly needed?) upgrade would drop, it’s nice that this story can finally be put to rest.

Have any Droid Incredible owners received the Froyo update yet? And if so, how well is it working for you so far?

It may not be true in Verizon...
rtrujillo@... 27th Aug 2010
...but with my carrier, I get updates after restarting my Adroid device. Just my two cents.
Not yet here in Philly.

COME ON VERIZON!
Beginning to think that nobody has it...
It is 6:00 PM, 8/27 & no Android 2.2 notice on my phone. These rumors are getting tiring. When it finally arrives I shall
throw a party! And the rumors will stop because I shall stop listening to them. Until then I will keep moving along with 2.1.

not yet here in Tampa
Anyone from FL get it yet?
I live in Colorado, and I haven't got the update yet.
I've done the *228 (ooptions 1 and 2) and that didn't phase anything.
As well as hard rebooting my phone...
I just wish it would hurry already

Atlanta... Nothing!
I read on Verizon user forum that a VZW senior tech told a caller that the update still has "issues" and has been delayed "a day or two". For what that's worth, though probably accurate, knowing Verizon.
I got the update. I wrote a little blog post highlighting the new features http://www.justechn.com/2010/08/28/review-droid-incredible-with-android-2-2-froyo
Do not have it yet either will come out in phases with in the next 2 week be patient. no need to dial *228. You will have a notice on your phone Do you want to update now choose yes or later.

one of two phones got it yesterday
num4nock 28th Aug 2010
Sadly my wife's phone has it 1st. Her phone is dead 50% of the time. If I didn't charge it for her it would be 100% of the time. She could care less about this update. I'm soo jealous.

I was surprised to see how long it took to download and update. 15+ min. I'm haven't seen the new features yet. Because I've been to busy re-booting, swapping batteries, shutdown//startup, from the root, calling the special numbers,.. ALL to NO avail. No update on my phone 24 hours after her update.
@num4nock I got the update @ 5:44 AM on the 28th and it took about 5 mins to download, I can't believe it took you 15???
I've heard that Verizon tech support types are watching blogs and talkbacks like this one and are making note of those who complain about them and those who do not. Those that whine, ***** , and moan are getting their updates last.

But seriously, everybody take a chill pill and calm down. Maybe Spike TV has a Star Wars marathon that will keep your mind off this update until you get actually it.

What about Eris?
SID S-1-1 30th Aug 2010
I'm sure all the lucky Incredible owners will eventually get their upgrades. But what about those of us who, as recently as five months ago bought the HTC Droid Eris? Apparently the powers-that-be at Verizon have decided that the Eris should not receive 2.2. I'm sure that either HTC or Google would be happy to provide an upgrade, but Verizon says no. You know what? I'd be happy to pay Google a few dollars extra for Froyo, and not only that, I'd be happy to spare Verizon their bandwidth by downloading the update via another ISP to my PC and copying over via USB. So there, Verizon, I have proposed a scenario where it's really none of your freaking business if I upgrade. But, no, you will not allow it.
This sounds like an issue for the FTC to look into. Should a cell carrier be able to control the availability of an OS which they do not own, and the ability of phone owners to upgrade the OS on their phones? Granted that Verizon should be able to decide when and if to provide over-the-air updates, but it should strictly be up to HTC and Google as to whether the update should be available in the first place.

My Incredible being Froyo-ized as I type (9:30am 8/31/10)...
It arrived today. It does not look all that different to me. The boot sequence now says "DROID", or at least it did when it was updating for 15 minutes on WiFi. Where are all these improvements?
Got my update today in KY! happy
I got it the Android 2.2 update on my HTC incredible today!! With tethering.. Mark, Bowie MD
Updated two days ago but will be going to Verizon today to see if I can revert to 2.1. Just too many problems... battery and memory usage, programs won't close, contacts lost, features inoperative. #fail
It hit my phone yesterday!!! I like the changes.....
