Apple holding a press event on September 7? (updated: Sept. 1)

By | August 25, 2010, 9:30am PDT

Summary: It’s official: Apple will be holding a “music-related” event on September 1 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET in San Francisco.

Yesterday, Bloomberg reported that Apple is in talks with television networks about a new TV episode rental service. But many tech sites are picking up on another tidbit in the article: a press event on September 7.

Apple hasn’t gone public with this date yet, but Tuesday, September 7 seems like a likely date for a press event as the Cupertino company typically hosts one at that time of year.

There are several products that many observers expect to see announced or at least mentioned at this event, namely a new iPod touch with a camera (maybe two), the revamped Apple TV/iTV, a new MacBook Air, and most likely the additional iTunes rental service.

We could also be seeing something about a new iPad with a camera (as it supposed to get FaceTime), and maybe news about the iPhone going to either Verizon or T-Mobile, but both of these announcements (if any) could likely get pushed back to January.

If/when it takes place, what are you hoping to see announced most at this event?

UPDATE: It’s official: Apple will be holding a “music-related” event on September 1 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET in San Francisco.

It's to announce the TV and .99 cent shows, and a new iPod Touch...MAYBE iOS4 for iPad...other than that, nothing.

to let everyone know that they'll be adding new deserts to the menu.

Anything to stay in the public eye in a positive light, something that hasn't happened lately... wink

Seems in my long history with Apple I've seen these dust ups on occasion and if any company can be called the Teflon Company it's Apple:) Take the iPhone 4 for instance yup the latest dust up but only that when all is said and done. Consumer Reports can't recommend it but calls it the best smartphone out there. Heck even when they slam Apple they can't help but give em a pat on the back or lower like in a football game or something:). I've also been watching the sales closely and what I've seen of late is Apple ramping up production of the iPhone 4... So no harm done.
