Apple offering up repairs or replacements for 2008 Time Capsules

By | July 12, 2010, 2:38am PDT

Summary: Apple is now offering free repairs or replacements for Time Capsules bought between February and June 2008.

iPhone 4 owners aren’t the only ones suffering from faulty Apple products. This one appears to have been in the making for awhile, and Apple is now offering free repairs or replacements for Time Capsules bought between February and June 2008.

Time Capsules are devices for backing up large amounts of data, so it can’t be fun when the back-up plan goes awry. According to the Unofficial Apple Weblog, most complaints revolve around power issues and random shut downs.

This might not have affected everyone who bought a Time Capsule during that five-month time frame, but if you have a copy with a serial number in the range “XX807XXXXXX – XX814XXXXXX,” you might want to schedule yourself an appointment at the Genius Bar.

Ah, the iPhone 4 isn't faulty, so you might want to correct or remove that false info. It works great, so don't fall into the media hype.

Yes, there were many, many early TimeCapsules with problems, so it's good that Apple is taking care of it.
