After making the pre-order rounds in Europe last month, the Archos 7 Home Tablet computer is finally ready for order on North American shores with a release just around the corner.

The Archos 7 made its global debut at the CeBIT trade show in Germany in early March, and it has gotten quite a lot of buzz since then. While it might not reach the levels of success as some other tablet computers released this month, it will be interesting to see what this 7-inch color touchscreen device can do.

And as originally promised by Archos, the retail price is still set at $199 and an 8GB version of the tablet is ready for pre-order on Amazon now. Unfortunately, it's not known as to when it will actually ship, although it probably won't be long and other sites are saying it will be before the end of the month.

Also unfortunate is the lack of information about the Archos 8, also announced at CeBIT, which seems to have fallen out of the spotlight entirely.
