It looks like Asus will have three new netbooks to debut at the CeBIT tradeshow in Germany next week, as photos and details on the Eee PC 1018P, 1016P and 1015P have leaked to the web.

The trio of Asus Eee PC netbooks share some similarities, including 10-inch screens and perhaps Intel Pine Trail Atom processors.

As for some of their individual qualities, here's the breakdown:

Eee PC 1015P (pictured above)

  • Matte display
  • Chiclet-style keyboard
  • Aluminum body
  • Built-in webcam
  • 14 hours of battery life (with Wi-Fi turned off)

Eee PC 1016P

  • Aluminum chassis
  • 14 hours of battery life

Eee PC 1018P

  • Aluminum chassis
  • Integrated fingerprint reader
  • USB 3.0
  • 0.7-inch thin frame
  • 10 hours of battery life

No word on release dates or pricing, or anything else really official, but some of that should change at CeBIT next week

  • What's the resolution?

I sure hope they don't have that aweful 1024x600 resolution on the screens. 1280x768 or similar is the minimum. Period.

1280*768 on a 10"? I have an ASUS 1000HE and 1024*768 is fine with me. Anything higher is tiny.

        More Resolution, the better

If you get more pixels for the same price, this is
a good thing. If the text is too small, you can
get apps that will make everything big again, but
you will still have the resolution so that you can
have a lot of screen realestate and HD movies and
        pictures look more detailed.

Err, what's the point of a NetBook with the WiFi switched off
(no matter how long the battery life)?!

Nothing against any of these, but why are Asus making so
many different configurations? It seems like a bad idea. So
we have a new processor - great, but why three new
machines? I think there are too many Eee's - the world
    doesn't need this many NetBooks.

    • why three new machines

Probably because marketing keeps rushing the designs out the door before engineering has time to add in all the stuff the designers want to include.

My old HP 2133 Mini note has 1280 x 786 on a 8,9" panel. This is the minimum.

  • what is it with shiny bezel frames...

First off, matte displays are the way to go with netbooks
and laptops. Why then do they insist on adding a glossy
bezel frame? Finger print attractor as well as just
irritating to use when out in any kind of sunlight.

I am holding out until I can get all the features I want without the piecemeal approach to market launch. Give me a long battery, a great resolution, a MATTE screen, built-in broad band & WiFi, in a thin, lightweight, responsive ****-book that performs for bus and doubles as an e-reader and movie watcher. I know it's coming...help me find it!
