Summary: Talk about a netbook that is so beautiful that it has already won award before being announced. Ahead of any official announcement or release yet, the Asus Eee PC 1218 has already been awarded the 2010 Red Dot Design Award, already emblazoned on the product page.

Talk about a netbook that is so beautiful that it has already won award before being announced.

Ahead of any official announcement or release yet, the Asus Eee PC 1218 has already been awarded the 2010 Red Dot Design Award, already emblazoned on the product page.

Upon first glance, it’s easy to see that this modern and sleek design is a sight to behold. Encased in a slim, one-piece aluminum shell, the Eee PC 1218 features a chiclet keyboard and resigns connectivity ports to the rear to avoid clutter. Asus has even incorporated a soft-touch plastic underside for easy cleaning should you get this beautiful device dirty.

Unfortunately, Asus still hasn’t come clean with any definite specs, pricing or release dates for this shiny netbook, and I hope that changes very soon.

Not much info but I'll give them kudos for the sliding webcam cover.

Award with no specs

I find it a bit weird how it can be awarded a prize before any specs [or pricing - which wouldn't be a factor in the award].

On the other hand Asus releases quality netbooks - unlike the crap that Acer releases.
