Asus has revealed some new tablet computer plans, and the most significant announcement is about an Android-based Eee Pad set to debut next March.

According to PC World, CEO Jerry Shen said that this particular slate computer will be the third in the Eee Pad collection, followed by 12-inch and 10-inch devices set to release this winter. But this one will also be the cheapest at $399.

Much more was detailed about the other devices, such as the 12-inch touchscreen variant comes with a docking station to “transform” into a laptop, and the 10-inch tablet will actually run on Windows Embedded Compact 7.

Presumably, the $399 edition will have a smaller screen and lesser specs, but Shen also hinted that this one will be a direct competitor to the iPad. We’ll more than likely see this one at CES 2011, and I can’t wait already.
