We've been waiting for this day since the end of CES 2011, and now AT&T has come clean as to when we can expect the Motorola Atrix 4G for sale and for how much.

Previously rumored to be released on March 1, the Atrix 4G will actually hit shelves on March 6. But the pre-sale commences on February 13 - that magic day when the HTC Inspire 4G will be released and the Mobile Hotspot app will be ready.

Pricing isn't much of a surprise. The Android 2.2-based smartphone will cost $199.99 with the signing of a two-year service agreement. Buyers also have a Laptop Dock bundle option, which would ring up a grand total of $499.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and require picking up Data Pro and tethering plans.

And remember that multimedia dock we saw before? Consumers can nab one of those as part of the Entertainment Access Kit, which includes the dock, a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and a remote control for $189.99.

Until then, you can flip through our hands-on gallery of the Atrix 4G and check out a snapshot look from CES 2011.

Well the price of the laptop dock just killed my interest in this phone and going back to AT&T

Hahaha what a joke, definitely switching to Verizon with that bombshell hahahahaha. Glad my contract ended 1/28. In all seriousness, $500 you could get a tablet or an actual laptop, and $190 for a dock? Really? There is no need to have a dock, correct me if I'm wrong that technically you should just be able to plug an HDMI and a charger into it and pay nothing at all? If they lock it down and require the dock, I most certainly would stay far away from this device. Oh, that and ATT data plans have gotten worse with upgrades in technology instead of better. Confirmed Verizon switch here, I was really pulling for ATT with the Atrix too but I finally give up after 8 years with Cingluar/ATT wireless. My service was better 5 years ago then it is now o_0.

@gzrecoil Well the 190 dollars does include keyboard/mouse and a remote. But they need to sell just the dock, I have a keyboard/mouse.

I think most of you are misreading. The bundle is optional. If you followed the link to dock info, they said someone was selling it for $60. While this phone may not be for everyone, single or IT people on the go can have a Dual Core smartphone with enough CPU power to handle pretty big tasks THAT can dock if needed. One place for all your stuff instead of some in the PC, some in the tablet/pad, and some in the phone. May still be a few reasons for the PC, but youl shouldn't be needing it very often at all. Others will copy this concept as soon as they get Dual Cores into their phones.

@jkohut You are misreading, there are 2 docks one is the laptop dock ($300 or $500) the other media kit dock price includes keyboard/mouse and remote that is the 190 dollar one. Most are complaining about the laptop dock

@mrlinux jkohut is saying that both bundles are optional. You can buy just the phone for $199 on contract. The laptop dock can also be had for $500 off contract (aka: not bundled) or +$300 when bundled with the phone. jkohut was also trying to make the point that buying the media dock+keyboard/mouse combo for $190 isn't your only choice if you are interseted in the media dock. There are sites that have the media dock listed for $60 by itself (meaning no keyboard/mouse).

I can buy a 24" monitor, gaming keyboard and mouse for less than the cost of that 11" monitor with keyboard and battery. $499 is just absolutely ridiculous. That's $50 in parts. Buying it bundled at the promotional price is expensive too, but almost doable if it weren't for the fact that you have to buy tethering and the big data plan. That's an additional $720 in services I don't need or want to the cost of the laptop dock.

Time to look at the Dell Streak.

Who / What idiot set the pricing on the docks?

I was interested when I saw the "speculated" price.
A phone / laptop dock garnered my interest, but not at that price.

    Ouch!

This seriously could be a game-changing device, if OS's mature enough for a phone to become a fully functional laptop with a simple action of docking...
...until I saw the price. And why require that you buy the obscene tethering surcharge and data plan? You've just killed the future of innovation and technology. Dead. Now we'll be stuck with a whole lot more of dreary, not-innovating-anymore-phones and havent-innovated-in-years laptops.

Pardon the sarcasm, but I was really, really excited for this phone, right up until I saw the pricing. 100% too expensive.

Apparently microsoft "still" hasn't gotten the memo. "We want to include the full user experience in a tablet" with this style of phone and now other future phones with the same direction, and everything going to mobile apps on android market/iTunes app store, who really needs windows anymore? Just saying....
