Barnes & Noble introduces NOOKstudy platform for students

Barnes & Noble has just unveiled its latest creation, NOOKstudy. No, it’s not a new e-book reader, but rather a software platform intended for students to help them manage digital study aids and electronic text books.

Rather than stuffing a bunch of old, hardcopy handouts and carrying around heavy books, a student could potentially organize everything he/she needs with one program. Potentially. (You’d also have to take the time to scan a lot of that stuff too if you don’t already have a digital copy.)

Compatible with both Mac and Windows systems, users can also use the program to directly access all of B&N’s eBooks and save up to 40% off new textbooks.

Best of all, the NOOKstudy application will be free…once it rolls out this fall in time for the new school year. No exact date yet, but most likely after Labor Day. If this sounds like something for you, submit your e-mail on the NOOKstudy site for more information about signing up.

@whoiskevin. I think the ipad is great for students. It would be well advised to put Nookstudy on the ipad and BN would sell more textbooks so it is a win win. I brought textbook for nookstudy this year but I will not next unless they has an app for ipad.

Hope it comes to the iPad...

This is great news, and something I hope would come to the iPad soon after. B&N seem to be more aggressive than Amazon in this space.

@dave95.
Barnes & Noble just put out their ereader for the iPad so you can buy the books for the iPad. If they want more sales they will put this out as well.
@dave95. Hmmm. I don't think the iPad is a big student market.

'Should be platform independent; or if nothing else, run on Android
