We reported late last year that the BBC iPlayer would finally be available outside of the United Kingdom on the iPad. Now we know when.

Obviously, residents across the pond will be treated to the new app first. The BBC iPlayer app will go live in the UK iTunes Store this Thursday, February 10. Users can browse the app over 3G but will need a Wi-Fi connection for video playback. Also note that this app is only compatible with the iPad, not the iPhone too.

US watchers will have their chance this June when the app launches stateside with a paid subscription plan.

Whilst this all goes on the Windows Phone 7 & Android users are left waiting even though we pay the same amount in licence fees here in the UK. So this is just great news....
