One of the easiest ways these days to keep track of one’s weight while on a diet is having a scale that can track and automatically upload stats to an online profile. BodyTrace has come out their eScale, a GSM-enabled device that promises a simple and private tracking system.

With GSM support, eScale users can upload weight and BMI statistics to an online account automatically to a private account. No Wi-Fi configuration needed. Specific stats that can also be traced online are water in-take, fat, protein, carbs and energy. BodyTrace states that the average eScale user loses 2.4 pounds per week.

If you’re very serious about keeping records on your weight, eScale’s prices aren’t too bad, with programs starting at $9.99 per month with a one-year contract or a $59.99 flat rate without a time commitment. Both pricing options, however, have a $9.99 fee tacked on top for initial set-up.

And if you’re not happy with your eScale, there is a 30-day guarantee that will grant a refund and your “old body” back.

Hi,

I've just found this post, so I though I'd shed some light on what actually happened.
The error was due to a configuration error. We made a mistake while pushing an update by not setting up a redirection from http://bodytrace.com to http://www.bodytrace.com. Our SSL certificate was issued for www.bodytrace.com, so when you visited the site without the www prefix, most browsers displayed an error message. This has since been corrected, you may check it on our website.

Best regards,

Beware the Hacker When You Click "Buy"
joydee@... 18th Apr 2010
Do not go to bodytrace.com and click "buy." You
must go instead to www.bodytrace.com.

If you leave out the "WWW" and click "buy" your
browser's security software should inform you
that you are on a false site and are
potentially giving your information to a
hacker.

I was warned when I tried it in Firefox and in
Google Chrome. Haven't tried it yet in IE.

Is this for real?

It's not just the audacity of the proposal but the gullibility complementing such a potential scam. I can recommend several other means that are not only less intrusive but more effective, exceedingly comprehensive, and would cost much less. But hey, don't let me stand in the way of any opportunity.
