Summary: With Amazon and Barnes & Noble engaged in an e-book reader price war this week, Borders has jumped into the ring with the offer of a $20 Borders gift card with the purchase of a Kobo eReader.

With Amazon and Barnes & Noble engaged in an e-book reader price war this week, Borders has jumped into the ring with the offer of a $20 Borders gift card with the purchase of a Kobo eReader.

The $20 gift card can’t be used to purchase the $149.99 Kobo; it can only be redeemed with future purchases. But still, $20 can be put to good use at Borders and makes the Kobo even more of a bargain.

Maybe Amazon and B&N will sweeten the deal and throw in gift cards of their own? Probably not, since the Kindle and the Nook are certainly more feature-packed devices than the low-end Kobo.
