CES: Iomega debuts SuperHero backup and charger for iPhone

Summary: Along with its new Boxee collaboration, Iomega is also debuting the SuperHero backup and charger for iPhone and iPod Touch.

CES 2011

Along with its new Boxee collaboration, Iomega is also debuting the SuperHero backup and charger for iPhone and iPod Touch.

Touted as a “first-of-its-kind” product, the SuperHero is a compact docking station that plugs directly into a wall outlet. The dock sports an SD card slot in the rear, and a 4GB SD card comes in the box.

The most work is setting up the system, but after that, everything should be automatic. Users download and install a free SuperHero app from iTunes to their iOS devices. When the device is plopped down on the dock, the app launches automatically and backs up contacts and photos to the SD card. Obviously, this will be the most time consuming the first time around as the SuperHero dock will only save new content each time thereafter.

If the time comes that you need to transfer all of that backed-up content to a new and/or restored iOS device, just plug the gadget into the dock and the SuperHero will import all of the information.

The Iomega SuperHero is available worldwide now for $69.99, and it is compatible with the iPhone 4/ 3GS/3G and iPod Touch 3G/4G.

@maloner it would just be your contacts and photos.
Hmmm; a 4GB SD card isn't going to quite backup all of my 32GB iPhone, now, is it ?
