It's a big day for Android apps. Already available for iOSComcast has outed the Xfinity TV app for Android-based devices.

The basic functions are all still present on this mobile application. That includes browsing TV listings and On Demand content, DVR programming and being able to change the channel.

However, more personalized features such as recommendations and shortcuts are promised to be on the way in future updates for both the Android and iOS versions of the app. Two big features we can soon expect include On Demand video streaming and live TV streaming directly on a tablet.

The app itself is free and ready to download from the Android Market now. Access to Xfinity streaming comes with a Comcast cable contract.

Am I missing something here? This came out last October, with the ability to view listings and control your DVR, as well as access email and voice services. The only new news would be if they rolled out the streaming features to Android.

OK, checked the Xfinity app, and it looks like it IS able to stream now, so this is a significant update. It looks like this sentence in the article is incorrect:
"Two big features we can soon expect include On Demand video streaming and live TV streaming directly on a tablet."

  • No..

It cant Stream. The Xfinity Mobile App came out last fall... just for setting DVR recording.

Xfinity TV app... allows you to look at the channel guide, record, OR change the channel on your TV(s).

The TV one will add OnDemand later... it has a menu item, but it isn't active... yet.

With the Droid app from Xfinity, you can access On Demand content, you can?t stream live TV or access your own recordings. At DISH Network, you can access your satellite receiver to stream live and recorded programs to your Droid using Sling technology. With Sling you can truly take your TV everywhere. As a customer/employee of DISH I can't begin to tell you how great it is. More info available at www.dish.com/TVeverywhere .
