Copia has launched its own e-book reading program, which the company touts as the “world’s first truly social eReading platform.”
While that statement and some of the boasting in the promo video is a bit over the top, Copia does look like an entertaining and impressive e-book reading platform.
The graphically-rich Copia takes the sharing qualities seen in sites like Good Reads to another level by bringing social networking features directly to the digital book.
Users can create a digital library of every book they have ever read, take notes and highlight passages, and purchase e-books. There are a number of different ways to share thoughts about books, from basic sharing of notes and passages via Facebook and Twitter to creating book clubs and study groups. This actually sounds really useful for those times when you finish a book that perhaps your friends haven’t ready but you’re itching to discuss.
The free platform is ready to download for the iPad, as well as Mac and PC computers. Copia will be made available on “most popular mobile devices” soon.
